At Tempest, we're serious about reducing waste. From the electronic waste produced by the AV industry, to the waste that is generated at job sites and even our local offices, everything counts! Managing resources responsibly is a key part of our commitment to a more sustainable future. We're proud to announce we've partnered with Ridwell, a transparent waste collection service that picks up items that are not generally accepted by standard recycling providers.
In an effort to keep items like plastic bags, multilayered food bags, Styrofoam, plastic shipping bags/bubble wrap, batteries, plastic pill bottles, plastic lids, clothes/shoes, lightbulbs, and more out of landfills, Ridwell offers a safe, effective way to recycle these materials. Going a step beyond ordinary recycling services, Ridwell vets domestic partners who specialize in repurposing and reusing 97% of the collected items. Instead of ending up in a landfill, these normally hard to recycle materials are repurposed into things like, outdoor decking, stuffing for pillows and stuffed animals, and playground equipment—just to name a few!
What started as a neighborhood project by the founders in our very own backyard, Seattle, Ridwell has grown into a movement that serves communities around the nation, with over 150,000 participants — Tempest proudly among them! Last year alone, collectively we saved over 35 million pounds of hard to recycle items from going into local landfills!
As an AV integrator, we take our responsibility to the community seriously, and our sustainability efforts and partnerships reflect that. Our collaboration with Ridwell emphasizes our commitment to responsible consumption and reduction of waste—not just within our company, but across our clients, partners, and the broader community.
