Prior to Infocomm International rebranding as AVIXA (Audiovisual and Integrated Experience Association) this past year, it included a group that was created for professional women in AV called Women of Infocomm, or WIN. The groups mission was to assemble a global community of AV professionals who were committed to supporting and empowering women in the AV industry and related fields. Now known as the AVIXA Women’s Council with six active chapters, the group is gaining momentum across the nation with new regional chapters forming each quarter.
Last fall, Cory Schaeffer, Director of System Solutions at QSC, along with Brandy Alvarado of RP Visuals who are teaming to spearhead the effort to increase membership in the Council, reached out to inquire if Debbie Williamson, President of Tempest Technologies and Lauren Yockman, AV Business Unit Manager at McKinstry were interested in starting a Pacific Northwest Chapter of the Council. Being offered an opportunity to give back to a community that has given so much to them, Debbie and Lauren jumped at the chance to contribute to the effort.
We’re excited to announce that the inaugural event of the AVIXA Women’s Council PNW Chapter will take place on Thursday, January 25th from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at McKinstry in Seattle. This event, like others to follow, will be lively, fun, and social in nature. During the event we'll touch on a variety of topics that will stimulate, educate, and inspire you!
The speaker for this event is Heather Picken, a renowned high-performance specialist, business coach, and best-selling author of The La Dolce Vita Formula: A Woman’s Guide to a Fearless and Fabulous Life. Using her formula, Heather empowers women to break through their limiting beliefs to achieve their personal and professional goals.
